Which Senior Living Option is Right for Your Loved One?

We’ve all heard the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. Goldilocks was faced with the challenge of finding out which option was right for her. And while the story teaches us an important lesson, it also shows us how challenging it can be to find what’s right for your personal needs.

That’s kind of how finding the right senior living community can seem, you want to make sure you explore every option for your loved one before they ultimately decide where to call their next home. Choosing the best senior living home for your loved one should feel like eating a perfect bowl of porridge or taking a nap in the most comfortable bed, just right.

At Rivertown Ridge, we’re here to help you understand the different senior living options so that you and your loved one can make an educated decision together that feels just right for the both of you.

Senior Living Options at Rivertown Ridge

At Rivertown Ridge we provide three different senior living options from which residents can choose; independent living, assisted living and memory support. And knowing more about our senior living options can help you decide which level of care is right for you or your loved one.

Independent Living.

Independent living is for seniors that can still live on their own but could benefit from having access to assistance if they need it. When you or your loved one is a part of the Rivertown Ridge independent living community, you’ll have access to things like dining options, medical care, entertainment and other amenities. Our independent living community offers each resident a safe living environment with minimal assistance.

Our independent living community is designed to provide residents a safe environment with minimal assistance. For example, when your loved one joins our community, they will still be able to live in their own space, but they won’t have to worry about things like monthly household maintenance, mowing the lawn or going to the grocery store. If they’re looking to continue their independent lifestyle but get rid of some of the monthly chores they dislike, independent living may be the best option for them to consider.

Independent living is all about helping residents feel like they’re at home, that’s why we offer a variety of spacious floor plans for residents to choose from. We have a total of five different floor plan styles for your loved one to consider including one-bedroom and two-bedroom styles. You can take a virtual tour of all of our floor plans today to get a better feel for which option suits your loved one’s lifestyle.

Some of our on-site amenities in independent living include:

Every resident in our Lighthouse Memory Support program receives their own customized care plan to ensure we are providing the exact level of support they need, 24-hours a day. Whether your loved one needs assistance with medication reminders, or supervision – support will always be available when they need it.

If your loved one has started to be more forgetful, experiences shift in their mood or has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia, memory care offers the specialized support they need to thrive.

How to Choose the Right Senior Living Option

After reading about the distinct differences between independent living, assisted living and memory support – ask yourself which living option seems best suited for your loved one. Take into consideration your loved one’s needs, wants and expectations.

It might be a good idea to set time aside and talk to them about what they want out of their retirement and determine which senior living option will help them achieve this.
